No-Refund & Cancellation Policy
Last updated: 14 September 2026
This No-Refund & Cancellation Policy explains when purchases made through YOU™ may or may not be cancelled, refunded or otherwise reversed.
YOU™ is operated by:
Unidia LLC EIN 30-1438835 131 Continental Dr Newark, Delaware 19713 New Castle County United States
Email: [email protected]
This Policy forms part of the YOU™ Terms of Service.
If mandatory consumer law provides rights that cannot legally be excluded, those rights remain unaffected.
1. Core No-Refund Rule
YOU™ provides personalised digital registration, documentation and certification services relating to a specific individual Work submitted by the customer.
These services are created specifically for that Work and may include:
- processing registration information;
- processing submitted photographs, video and supporting evidence;
- reviewing the Work;
- creating or updating the Registration Record;
- preparing the Registration Manifest;
- creating cryptographic hashes;
- obtaining or processing qualified electronic timestamp evidence;
- assigning a Registration ID;
- generating verification information;
- generating a personalised digital Certificate;
- creating QR verification;
- activating eligible NFC functionality; and
- recording ownership or provenance information.
Once the purchased personalised service has been fully performed, the transaction is final.
YOU™ does not provide refunds for fully performed personalised digital registration or certification services, except where a refund or another remedy is required by mandatory applicable law.
2. Why YOU™ Services Are Generally Non-Refundable
YOU™ does not sell a generic digital file that can simply be returned unused.
The purchased service involves processing information and evidence relating to a particular Work and creating an individual digital registration result specifically for that Work.
Once this work has been performed, YOU™ cannot meaningfully “take back”:
- the review already carried out;
- the processing already performed;
- the Registration Record already created;
- the cryptographic operations already completed;
- the qualified timestamp operation already obtained;
- the Registration ID already assigned;
- the verification infrastructure already created; or
- the personalised Certificate already generated.
For this reason, completed YOU™ services are non-refundable except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
3. When a Service Is Considered Fully Performed
For refund and cancellation purposes, a YOU™ service is considered fully performed when all material elements of the purchased service that YOU™ is required to provide have been completed.
Depending on the service purchased, this may occur when:
- the Registration Record has been processed and completed;
- the required Review Process has been completed;
- the personalised Certificate has been generated or issued;
- the relevant registration result has been made available in the user’s account;
- the qualified timestamp operation included in the service has been completed;
- an Ownership Transfer has been processed;
- an NFC Passport service has been activated or personalised;
- or another purchased personalised digital service has been completed.
The exact completion point depends on the service purchased.
4. Immediate Performance
YOU™ services are intended to begin promptly after purchase.
By purchasing an eligible personalised registration or certification service, the customer requests that YOU™ begin performance without waiting for the expiry of any otherwise applicable statutory withdrawal or cancellation period.
Performance may begin immediately after payment or after the customer submits the information required for YOU™ to begin processing.
This may include:
- account or order processing;
- review of the submitted Work;
- technical processing;
- preparation of the registration;
- creation of the Registration Manifest;
- cryptographic processing;
- timestamp processing;
- Certificate preparation; and
- other work required to complete the purchased service.
5. EU/EEA Consumers
Consumers located in the European Union or European Economic Area may ordinarily have a statutory right to withdraw from certain distance contracts.
However, where a paid service has been fully performed, the right of withdrawal may cease if performance began with the consumer’s prior express consent and the consumer acknowledged that the right of withdrawal would be lost once the service had been fully performed.
YOU™ therefore requires an applicable EU/EEA consumer to expressly request immediate performance and acknowledge the consequences before the service is fully performed.
Once those statutory requirements have been satisfied and the personalised service has been fully performed, the customer no longer has a change-of-mind right to cancel the completed service or request a refund.
This reflects the rules applicable to fully performed service contracts under European consumer law.
6. Required EU/EEA Checkout Consent
Where required, before completing a purchase the customer must affirmatively agree to a statement substantially equivalent to:
“I expressly request that YOU™ begin providing the personalised registration and certification service immediately, before the end of the statutory withdrawal period. I understand and acknowledge that once the service has been fully performed and my personalised digital registration result or Certificate has been issued, I will lose my statutory right of withdrawal.”
The consent must be obtained through an affirmative action, such as an unticked checkbox that the customer actively selects.
Acceptance of general Terms of Service alone should not be treated as a substitute for this separate consent where applicable law requires a specific express request and acknowledgment.
7. Confirmation of Consent
Where applicable law requires it, YOU™ will provide confirmation of the customer’s contract and relevant express consent on a durable medium.
This may be provided through:
- email;
- a downloadable order confirmation;
- the user’s account;
- or another legally acceptable durable format.
YOU™ may retain evidence of:
- the wording presented to the customer;
- the customer’s affirmative consent;
- the date and time of consent;
- the order identifier;
- and the applicable version of the policy.
8. Cancellation Before Full Performance — EU/EEA
If an EU/EEA consumer has a statutory right of withdrawal and validly exercises that right before the service has been fully performed, applicable consumer law will determine the consequences.
Where the customer expressly requested that performance begin during the withdrawal period, the customer may, where permitted by law, be required to pay a proportionate amount for the service already provided before withdrawal.
The amount must be determined in accordance with applicable law and the nature and extent of the service already performed.
Once the service has been fully performed and the required express consent and acknowledgment have been obtained, the ordinary withdrawal right no longer applies.
9. Completed Certificates Are Non-Refundable
Once a personalised YOU™ Certificate has been generated or issued as part of a fully performed service, the purchase is non-refundable except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
A refund is not available merely because the customer:
- decides not to use the Certificate;
- no longer wants the Certificate;
- no longer wishes to display it;
- no longer plans to sell the Work;
- sells the Work to another person;
- gives the Work away;
- removes the Work from sale;
- changes their business plans;
- decides that registration is no longer necessary;
- or otherwise changes their mind.
10. Completed Registration Services Are Non-Refundable
A completed Registration Record cannot be cancelled for the purpose of obtaining a refund simply because the customer later decides that they no longer want the registration.
Where appropriate, a Registration Record may subsequently be:
- restricted;
- marked disputed;
- updated;
- superseded;
- revoked;
- archived;
- or otherwise changed in status.
Such a status change does not normally reverse the fact that the original registration service was performed.
It therefore does not automatically create a right to a refund.
11. Rejected Applications
Where a purchased service includes review, examination or processing of a submitted Work, payment covers that processing and review work.
If YOU™ performs the contracted review and subsequently rejects the Work, rejection does not automatically entitle the customer to a refund.
This applies particularly where rejection results from:
- incomplete information;
- inaccurate information;
- insufficient supporting evidence;
- failure to satisfy eligibility requirements;
- submission of an ineligible Work;
- suspected false statements;
- suspected intellectual-property infringement;
- inconsistent evidence;
- inability to verify required information;
- violation of submission rules;
- violation of the Terms of Service;
- or failure to provide requested corrections or information.
Where the review service itself has been performed, the fact that the application did not result in approval does not mean that no service was supplied.
12. Requests for Correction
A request to correct an error in a Registration Record does not ordinarily cancel the original transaction.
Minor corrections may be processed in accordance with YOU™ correction procedures.
Material changes may require:
- additional review;
- a new Registration Manifest;
- a new hash;
- a new qualified timestamp;
- a replacement Certificate;
- or a new paid service.
The need for correction does not automatically create a right to a refund.
13. Customer Submission Errors
YOU™ is not required to provide a refund because the customer:
- entered incorrect information;
- uploaded the wrong photograph;
- provided an incorrect title;
- selected the wrong category;
- provided incorrect dimensions;
- omitted relevant information;
- or otherwise made an error in the submission.
Where possible, YOU™ may permit corrections under the applicable correction procedure.
Additional fees may apply where a correction requires substantial additional processing.
14. Duplicate Registration by the Customer
If a customer accidentally purchases or submits the same service more than once, the customer should contact YOU™ promptly.
YOU™ will review whether:
- duplicate payment occurred;
- duplicate processing has begun;
- separate Registration Records have already been created;
- or separate services have already been performed.
Where a genuine duplicate charge occurred without a corresponding additional service being performed, YOU™ may correct the billing error.
Where two distinct personalised services have already been performed, the transaction may no longer qualify as a duplicate payment.
15. Duplicate Charges
A confirmed duplicate charge for a single service will be corrected.
Where the payment processor or YOU™ system charges the customer twice for the same single transaction and only one service was ordered, the duplicate payment may be refunded or otherwise reversed.
Correction of a duplicate charge is not an exception to the general No-Refund Policy for the correctly charged service.
16. Technical Billing Errors
YOU™ may correct confirmed technical billing errors.
Examples may include:
- an incorrect duplicate transaction;
- an amount charged in error;
- a transaction incorrectly attributed to an order;
- or another verifiable payment-system error.
Any correction will be limited to the amount affected by the error.
17. Service Not Provided
If YOU™ accepts payment but does not provide the purchased service and is unable or unwilling to provide it, the customer may be entitled to reimbursement or another remedy as required by applicable law.
The No-Refund Policy is intended to apply to services that have actually been performed.
It is not intended to allow YOU™ to retain payment for a service that it has failed to provide where applicable law requires reimbursement.
18. Non-Conforming or Defective Service
Nothing in this Policy removes mandatory consumer remedies where a service fails to conform to applicable legal or contractual requirements.
Depending on applicable law and the circumstances, the appropriate remedy may include:
- correction;
- re-performance;
- bringing the service into conformity;
- replacement of a defective digital result;
- price reduction;
- termination;
- or refund where legally required.
A statutory remedy for a defective or non-conforming service is different from a voluntary change-of-mind refund.
19. Change of Mind
YOU™ does not provide voluntary refunds merely because the customer changes their mind after the service has been fully performed.
Examples include:
- “I decided I don’t need the Certificate anymore.”
- “I changed my mind about registering the Work.”
- “I no longer want to sell the Work.”
- “I sold the Work elsewhere.”
- “I expected registration to increase the value of my Work.”
- “I have decided not to use YOU™.”
- “I no longer want the public record.”
- “I do not like the fact that registration cannot simply be undone.”
These circumstances do not create a refund right after full performance.
20. Commercial Expectations
YOU™ does not guarantee that registration will:
- increase the value of a Work;
- increase sales;
- attract collectors;
- prevent copying;
- prevent infringement;
- prove copyright ownership conclusively;
- guarantee success in litigation;
- or create any particular commercial result.
Dissatisfaction with a commercial outcome that was not guaranteed does not create a right to a refund.
21. Intellectual-Property Disputes
If a Registration Record later becomes the subject of:
- a copyright complaint;
- a trademark complaint;
- an authorship dispute;
- an ownership dispute;
- a takedown notice;
- or another rights-related challenge,
the existence of that dispute does not automatically entitle the customer to a refund.
YOU™ may:
- restrict the record;
- mark it disputed;
- request evidence;
- suspend public access;
- or take other action permitted by the Terms of Service.
The registration and review service may still have been fully performed even if the resulting record later becomes disputed.
22. Fraud or Misrepresentation
No refund is due merely because YOU™ suspends, rejects or revokes a registration because of suspected or confirmed:
- fraud;
- impersonation;
- falsified evidence;
- materially false statements;
- unauthorised submission;
- misuse of another person’s content;
- or other serious violation of the Terms.
This provision does not permit YOU™ to retain funds where mandatory law requires otherwise.
23. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes
A customer should contact YOU™ before initiating a payment dispute where reasonably possible.
A chargeback is not a substitute for a statutory cancellation right or a valid refund claim.
Where a chargeback is filed after the personalised service has been fully performed, YOU™ may provide the payment provider with relevant evidence, which may include:
- order records;
- acceptance of Terms;
- express immediate-performance consent;
- completion status;
- Certificate issuance data;
- Registration ID;
- login information;
- transaction information;
- and relevant communications.
Nothing in this Policy prevents a customer from exercising rights available under applicable payment law.
24. Fraudulent Chargebacks
YOU™ may suspend accounts or paid functionality where there is reasonable evidence of abusive or fraudulent payment disputes.
This does not affect a consumer’s lawful right to dispute an unauthorised, erroneous or otherwise legally disputable transaction.
25. NFC Passport Services
Where an NFC Passport includes both a personalised digital service and a physical NFC tag, different parts of the transaction may be subject to different legal treatment.
The personalised registration, programming, association or activation work may become non-refundable once fully performed in accordance with this Policy.
If a physical NFC tag has not yet been dispatched, cancellation rights concerning that physical component will depend on:
- whether it has already been personalised or programmed;
- applicable consumer law;
- and the specific circumstances of the order.
If the tag has been manufactured, programmed or otherwise personalised specifically for the customer or Work, statutory exceptions applicable to personalised goods may apply.
Shipping fees already incurred may be non-refundable to the extent permitted by law.
26. Ownership Transfers
A completed paid Ownership Transfer service is non-refundable once YOU™ has processed and recorded the transfer, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
A later agreement between the buyer and seller to reverse ownership does not automatically cancel the original service.
Where necessary, a new Ownership Transfer or correction event may be required.
27. Subscription Cancellations
Where YOU™ offers subscriptions, cancellation of a subscription prevents future renewals in accordance with the applicable subscription terms.
Cancellation does not normally result in:
- reimbursement of already completed billing periods;
- refunds for completed registration services;
- deletion of Certificates;
- deletion of timestamp evidence;
- deletion of ownership history;
- or destruction of valid Registration Records.
Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.
28. Automatic Renewal
Where a subscription renews automatically, the renewal terms, price and cancellation method must be disclosed before purchase as required by applicable law.
A customer may cancel future renewal using the method provided by YOU™.
Cancellation applies prospectively and does not ordinarily reverse charges for services or subscription periods already properly supplied.
29. Cancellation of a Subscription Is Not Deletion
Cancelling a subscription is separate from closing an account or requesting deletion of personal information.
Cancellation of billing does not automatically erase:
- Registration Records;
- Certificates;
- ownership history;
- provenance;
- qualified timestamp evidence;
- audit history;
- or other records that YOU™ is lawfully entitled or required to preserve.
Privacy rights are governed separately by the Privacy Policy.
30. Account Closure
Closing a YOU™ account does not create a right to a refund for previously performed services.
A user may request account closure in accordance with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
Account closure does not undo the services previously supplied.
31. Removal of a Public Record
Where YOU™ permits a public record to be restricted, archived, revoked or removed from public display, such action does not normally create a right to a refund.
The customer purchased the creation and processing of the registration service, not an unconditional guarantee that the record would remain publicly displayed forever regardless of later events.
32. Qualified Electronic Timestamp Fees
Where a purchased service includes a Qualified Electronic Timestamp and YOU™ has already incurred a non-recoverable cost with a QTSP in order to perform the customer’s requested service, that completed component may be non-refundable to the extent permitted by law.
A qualified timestamp that has validly been issued cannot ordinarily be “returned” or retrospectively erased as though the timestamping operation had never occurred.
33. QTSP Unavailability
If YOU™ is unable to obtain a required Qualified Electronic Timestamp because the necessary qualified trust service is unavailable, YOU™ may:
- delay completion;
- keep the registration pending;
- offer another technically and legally equivalent provider where available;
- or cancel the affected unperformed service.
If YOU™ cannot provide a material paid component of the purchased service, applicable law and the circumstances will determine whether reimbursement, price adjustment or another remedy is appropriate.
YOU™ will not represent an ordinary server timestamp as a substitute for a Qualified Electronic Timestamp.
34. Processing Already Performed
Where permitted by applicable law, work already performed may remain chargeable even if the customer validly cancels before full performance.
For EU/EEA consumers who expressly requested immediate performance, applicable law may permit YOU™ to charge a proportionate amount reflecting services already supplied before withdrawal.
35. United Kingdom Consumers
Where UK consumer cancellation rules apply, YOU™ will respect statutory cancellation rights and applicable requirements concerning early performance.
Where the consumer expressly requests that service performance begin during an applicable cancellation period, the consequences of cancellation and any amount payable for services already provided will be determined under applicable UK law.
Where applicable statutory requirements are satisfied and a service has been fully performed, the relevant cancellation right may cease.
Nothing in this Policy removes rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under UK consumer law.
36. United States Customers
For United States customers, YOU™ maintains a clear policy that completed personalised services are generally final and non-refundable.
This Policy must be presented clearly before purchase.
Nothing in this Policy limits rights available under applicable:
- federal law;
- state consumer-protection law;
- payment law;
- or other mandatory law.
Where a state gives consumers rights that cannot legally be waived, those rights remain unaffected.
A “final sale” or no-refund term does not permit deceptive or unfair commercial conduct.
37. Clear Disclosure Before Payment
The No-Refund Policy should be disclosed clearly before the customer completes payment.
The checkout process should state, in a prominent manner, that:
“Personalised YOU™ registration and certification services are non-refundable once fully performed. By requesting immediate performance, you acknowledge that your applicable cancellation or withdrawal right may end once the service has been fully completed.”
Where additional consent is legally required, the general notice above should be supplemented by the appropriate separate checkbox.
Clear pre-purchase disclosure is also important for US consumer transactions involving a final-sale or no-refund policy.
38. Recommended Checkout Structure
For eligible personalised YOU™ services, checkout should contain:
General policy notice
NO REFUNDS AFTER COMPLETION
YOU™ provides a personalised digital registration and certification service created specifically for your Work. Once the service has been fully performed and your personalised Certificate or registration result has been issued, the purchase is final and non-refundable, except where mandatory law requires otherwise.
EU/EEA express-consent checkbox
☐ I expressly request that YOU™ begin providing the personalised registration and certification service immediately, before the end of the statutory withdrawal period. I understand and acknowledge that once the service has been fully performed and my personalised digital Certificate or registration result has been issued, I will lose my statutory right of withdrawal.
This checkbox should not be pre-selected.
Terms acceptance
☐ I have read and agree to the Terms of Service and No-Refund & Cancellation Policy.
The Terms checkbox and the immediate-performance consent should remain separate where legally appropriate.
39. Order Confirmation
The order confirmation should record or reproduce the relevant terms governing the purchase.
For EU/EEA customers where required, this should include confirmation of:
- the purchased service;
- the price;
- the request for immediate performance;
- the acknowledgement concerning loss of withdrawal rights;
- and access to the applicable Terms and this Policy.
40. Refund Requests
Where a customer believes that a refund is legally required, the customer may contact:
The request should include where available:
- customer name;
- account email;
- order number;
- Registration ID;
- date of purchase;
- purchased service;
- reason for the request;
- and any relevant evidence.
Do not send complete payment-card numbers or passwords.
41. Review of Refund Requests
YOU™ may review:
- whether the service was purchased;
- whether performance began;
- whether full performance occurred;
- whether a Certificate was issued;
- whether a Registration Record was completed;
- whether a qualified timestamp was obtained;
- whether express consent was provided;
- whether duplicate billing occurred;
- whether the service was defective or not provided;
- and whether mandatory law requires a remedy.
A request labelled “refund request” does not automatically mean that a refund is legally due.
42. Refund Method
Where YOU™ determines that a refund is legally required or otherwise approves one, the refund will normally be issued using the original payment method where technically possible.
Processing times may depend on the relevant payment provider.
YOU™ is not responsible for delays caused solely by the payment provider after the refund has been properly initiated.
43. Taxes
Where a refund is legally due, treatment of taxes will depend on:
- applicable tax rules;
- the nature of the transaction;
- and the amount being refunded.
YOU™ will adjust refundable taxes where required by applicable law.
44. Currency Conversion
Where a payment provider, bank or card issuer converted the payment between currencies, the amount ultimately received by the customer after a refund may vary because of:
- exchange-rate movements;
- bank fees;
- payment-provider conversion rules;
- or other third-party charges.
YOU™ does not control third-party currency conversion rates.
45. Policy Abuse
YOU™ may investigate repeated refund claims, duplicate registrations, payment disputes or other activity reasonably suspected to involve abuse or fraud.
This does not limit a person’s right to exercise genuine statutory consumer or payment rights.
46. Relationship With the Terms of Service
This Policy forms part of the YOU™ Terms of Service.
If there is a conflict between this Policy and mandatory applicable law, mandatory law prevails.
If a transaction-specific term provides the customer with more favourable cancellation rights, that specific term may apply to that transaction.
47. Relationship With the Privacy Policy
Requests for refunds, cancellation, account closure and personal-data deletion are legally distinct.
A refund request does not automatically delete personal information.
A privacy deletion request does not automatically cancel or refund a completed service.
Personal-data processing and retention are governed by the YOU™ Privacy Policy.
48. Changes to This Policy
YOU™ may update this Policy to reflect:
- changes in law;
- regulatory guidance;
- changes to the service;
- changes to pricing;
- new payment mechanisms;
- new subscription models;
- or changes to the registration process.
The date of the latest version will be displayed at the top of this Policy.
Material changes affecting existing consumer rights will be handled in accordance with applicable law.
